LIBRARY: An international comparison of wildfire prevention and control policies: a round table

On the occasion of the Kick off meeting of the RES2Fire Project, a round table among Italian and Greek senior experts and managers was held.
The participants:
– Giovanni Di Bello, Head of the Civil Protection Office of the Basilicata Region
– Maria Gabriella Martino, Regional Commander of Carabinieri Forestali ‘Basilicata”
– Vincenzo Salvatore Ciani, Regional Director of the Firefighters Department “Basilicata”
– Andreas Vassilopoulos, AVMap GIS Digital Applications S.A, former local administrator of Marathon Municipality.
Among the key issues emerged in the lively discussion, the management of fuel materials, especially in the case of farm and silvicultural activities, the prescriptions related to fire prevention and controls that can be recommended in urban and territorial planning. Interactions and complementarities between national and regional legislations in the field of wildfires control.
